It’s been a busy couple of weeks designing new products and building 13 reelers for one team across two boats.

10 reelers are heading to Italy to be installed on the new Wally Rocket 51 Django, while two large 30 m Skyline reelers and one 20 m unit are on their way to Valencia for installation on the Wally Rocket 71.

We have done a couple of firsts for Cerberus Marine and our reeler collection. We have made port and starboard spinnaker sheet reelers as well as a full redesign of our classic EZ 10 m reeler making it much lighter but still as strong.

It’s not quite finished yet, but we’re 98% there.

Designed under the same proven parameters as all our reelers, it’s made to be glued directly to the yacht — install and ready to go in around 10 minutes.

Unlike other skyline reelers on the market that rely on bungee (which loses memory over time and requires constant re-tuning), we’ve taken a completely different approach.

There’s no bungee, no blocks, and no gimmicks — just smart, purpose-built engineering.

All the unit weighs under 1kg and comes in multiple sizes, currently capable of handling 20m, 30m, and 40m.

Fixing a tricky one onboard Yam2

We were asked to solve an ongoing issue with the waterproof covers over the large @harken_inc backstay rams. When those rams load up, the shaft moves — and the original covers didn’t allow for that movement.

The problems:
• The old covers cracked because there was no flex built in.
• The shaft opening needed to stay tight for an O-ring seal.
• Mounting and waterproofing to the yacht was difficult.

Our solution:
• Scanned and redesigned the existing cover.
• Enlarged the shaft hole and added a flange.
• Designed a waterproof sleeve that seals tightly on the ram shaft and compresses neatly when under load.

Another engineering headache solved — one more yacht dry, tight, and dialed by Cerberus Marine

We were flown in to carry out a shroud pennant replacement onboard @argoracing’s Mod70. With signs of minor chafe showing, there’s no room for risk—especially with a canting rig. Big thanks to @spenserrigging for helping bed in the splices to 10 tonnes on their test bed, ensuring the 16mm SK99 from @gottifredimaffioli was cut to the perfect length. We finished the job with a fully covered pennant, ready to go for tomorrow’s test sail. Good luck out there, lads!

We ran six laps of @gottifredimaffioli 4mm SK99 to create the smallest possible loop for the lead rings feeding into the @harken_inc 990 winches aboard @argoracing !!!!

Here we have a 5ft 7ft and 10ft strops with a 40,000kg break load and just a little over a 3 time Saftey factor baked into the cake.These strops are made up of 100% @gottifredimaffioli products there is 3 laps of 8mm sk99 inside these bad boys. For a size comparison there is a m32 KZ furler strop next to them. These strops will be used on @midtownracingusa new crane setup. Next stop for these strop is the painting bench where they will be turned orange to match Midtowns racing colors!
